This postcard was sent to me following the 1984 presidential election by a very good friend with political views that were the polar opposite of mine at the time. I appreciated it more for his take on me than on the president. Though we argued fiercely at times, I think he could see I was able to see both sides, even when we disagreed. I've always taken pride in that - and worked hard at it because it's rarely easy to read, watch or listen to the other side's argument, let alone consider it with even a hint of objectivity. But try we must.
